  • From Our Hearts is a not-for-profit 501c3 that began with a simple request by a son for a few handcrafted cards so that he could send “special” cards home to his wife and children while he serving his 6th deployment in Iraq. Today, the initial dozen handcrafted cards have turned into thousands of quality, handcrafted cards created and donated to From Our Hearts every month by hundreds of stampers nationwide and shipped to our servicemen and women serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Congressional Acknowlegement

Imagine our surprise when this envelope showed up in our mailbox:

From the House of Representatives in Washington DC - and the "stamp"?  Do you recognize the signature?  None other than Congressman Ike Skelton, from the 4th District of Missouri and Chairman of the House Armed Forces Committee.

He wrote a very kind letter in response to the front page, Sunday newspaper article written about the Holiday cardmaking event held in Jefferson City on July 18.

Once again, the words "You are a true American hero." are written.  Wow!  These words were written from a chaplain to us, just a few months ago.  And here they are, written once more.

These words are written for all of you who are donating your time, effort, talent, postage, cardstock, envelopes, clear envelopes, supplies and monetary contributions to From Our Hearts.  It is a collective effort, not one person!

So, from Congressman Ike Skelton, who recognizes the importance of our "efforts and dedication to helping our men and women in uniform", I pass this along!

Mailing Deadlines

  • 2010 special shipments will be mailed on or about the following dates. Deadlines for receipt of cards is 2 weeks prior to their mailing dates to give us time to prepare them for shipment:
    St. Patrick's Day: February 1
    Easter: February 22
    Mother's Day: March 22
    Father's Day: May 3
    4th of July: May 24
    Halloween: September 13
    Thanksgiving: October 1
    Christmas/Holiday: October 30

    All occasion cards are mailed over every 4-6 weeks, depending upon the numbers of donations received and available funds.
